Andy Manos
From: Atlanta, GA
Job: Consultant/Special Project Manager for EnviroSpark Energy Solutions.
Here’s what a typical day in the life of Andy looks like: If I am not traveling, typically I will wake up, check my email on my phone, shake my head and sigh, and then walk down the block to Prosper. I will make a pot of coffee and write out a to do list of all of the new fires that have sprung up overnight. After clearing my inbox and tackling a few of the more pressing issues, I will work for a while designing new projects for the Tesla Charging team. We design and install the infrastructure that keeps electric vehicles running all over the country. If I am out on the road, I will be working with property managers and owners to determine the need that they currently have for EV support, as well as future proof as more and more Teslas are sold. I will proceed to have an adult beverage and wrap up with my sales team, then call it a night!
What is the best thing about being your own boss (or working remotely)? I am able to work in a way that is most efficient for me on that day. If I have something that needs to be done in my personal life, I can take care of it then and there, as opposed to be tied to an arbitrary schedule. Traveling as much as I do also becomes easier and more effective when I can work as much and wherever I like to ensure success. Being results driven works well for me since the “eat what you kill” mindset serves to motivate me more than a more process driven effort.
What’s the worst? Lack of community and the diligence required to set goals and hold yourself to them. It can be easy to just roll over and grab another hours worth of sleep because you can always make it up later. When working at home, you find yourself sitting in your boxers for a week plugging away at the computer because there is no external stimuli to break you out.
Where did you work before you discovered Prosper? Usually at my apartment in the guest room. Sitting at a rickety card table, surrounded by laundry that needed to be folded and put away. As you can guess, not a super productive atmosphere!
Which is your favorite spot to work in Prosper’s 1024 Broadway space? I have sort of set up camp in the back corner by the kitchen, I am close to the coffee and can entertain my inner 9 year old by people watching out the big front window.
What does the word “Gowork” mean to you? Go and Do. No need to check in or get bogged down in water cooler conversations about a game I didn’t watch. No unnecessary meetings to set the agenda for the next meeting, and no “case of the Mondays?” conversations. I can work from 7am-3pm, 11am-9pm, or into the small hours of the morning, wherever and however I want. All of that leads to the the “Prosper” result we are all seeking.
What do you hope to achieve in 2018? We have some pretty aggressive goals for the company in ‘18, there will be some incredible growth and rewarding outcomes when we meet them. I hope to solidify myself more as an expert in the field and be rewarded as an integral part of another successful company in an emerging market. Personally, I need to get over to Peter Luger Steakhouse and eat too much steak a few times, as well as pick my tennis racket back up.
