From: Philadelphia, PA
Job: Ambassador at Prosper Gowork
Tell us more about what you do!
I primarily work out of our Crown Heights location assisting with community relations, tours, social media, and newsletters. I’m around to assist with any questions and to help maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for other Goworkers.
Here’s what a typical day in your life looks like:
I take breakfast on my roof if the weather permits, meditate, read, and go over emails/my schedule for the day. I’ll go for a run or bike ride around Prospect Park then get my day started. This varies from day to day but could mean meeting up with friends/associates, checking in at Prosper, assisting with my friend’s newly-opened cafe in Crown Heights, heading to the park or some green space, and probably ending up at the farmer’s market to re-up on produce. I attend school for Clinical Herbalism where I’m also a class coordinator. When I’m not in class, I’m probably learning something herb-related or crafting a new remedy/elixir.
What is the best thing about being your own boss (or working remotely)?
Being the one who largely dictates my own schedule is so freeing. I also directly see the outcome from any input that goes into my work which is so empowering but at times nerve-racking. I love the prospect of switching up my surroundings on a daily basis and having my work be a direct reflection of me.
What’s the worst?
There’s way less stability than a traditional 9-5 and not always having peers to relay ideas off of.
Where did you work before you discovered Prosper?
I managed a fashion retail store for over 3 years in Washington D.C. and then The Meatpacking District. Definitely a different dynamic than Prosper!
Which is your favorite spot to work in your preferred Prosper location?
I can most likely be found on the comfy sofas towards the front so I can greet other Goworkers as they come in, especially since I’m still familiarizing myself with faces. Otherwise I can be found in the garden backyard because it’s a hidden zen oasis which is rare in the city.
What does the word “Gowork” mean to you?
To me, Gowork is a term that can be a noun or a verb and refers to a fluid workspace or the act of working anywhere. I love the sense of urgency it evokes while still sounding low key. It also happens to sound like a Swedish term or something that may be found in Ikea. Slangily used in a sentence, one might say: “I’m gonna Gowork over here today, but tomorrow I may gowork someplace else.”
What do you hope to achieve in 2019?
In 2019 I hope to formulate a business plan for a holistic skincare and herb line. I also want to build stronger relationships and broaden my sense of community. Overall, I hope to keep pushing the boundaries of my comfort zone and to be continually learning.
